Case Study: AMOS – Hackathon Panel Member

Client: AMOS – Sport Business School, London

Challenge: Evaluate and rank student presentations for a Hackathon Challenge

My Role: Panel Member

Context:  I was invited by AMOS Business school to be a panel member for their annual 24h Hackathon Challenge. During this event, teams of 10 students had 24hrs to develop a comprehensive pitch to bid for the Rugby World Cup, representing London. Bids needed to include a full budget breakdown, logistics and planning, marketing and communication strategies, community outreach initiatives and efforts to ensure social and environmental responsibility.

Contribution: As a panel member, my responsibilities included assessing the student pitches, providing constructive feedback, and collaborating with other panel members to determine scores and select the winning team. I drew upon my experience working in the Sports Team at the Mayor of London’s office to offer practical advice and real-life examples, helping students understand their strengths and areas for improvement.

Impact: This hackathon provided students with their first experience in pitching for major sports events. My involvement allowed me to share valuable insights and practical advice, enhancing their understanding of the complexities involved in such bids. The feedback and examples I provided helped students grasp what they did well and identify opportunities for improvement, preparing them for future challenges and a career in the sports industry.
